DEEP MUSCLE THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE
with Kathy Perniciaro.  250 hours. Learn to be a Massage Therapist.  This training includes massage technique, anatomy & physiology, pathology, communications skills, ethical considerations & massage therapy law, equipping you to perform Deep Muscle Therapeutic Massage with some Acupressure and Reflexology techniques.  Two classes: 10 am or 7 pm.  Training completed 5/25/10.  $2500.  Registration requires a school visit, a $50 registration fee, $100 text fee and a $200 tuition deposit.  Fulfills almost half of the requirement for a 600-hour diploma.  You design the remaining 350 hours from the many electives!  A weekly payment schedule is available.

TAX CONSIDERATIONS FOR 2009 RETURNS
with Jeanne Swain, CPA.  8 hours.  Learn about current changes in tax law that apply to last year's earnings and tax filing.  Teaches you how to do year-end accounting with little or no stress.  You will also receive many helpful tips for filing tax returns.  9 am, $130.

with Pam Hodgkinson.  4 CE hours. Experience the Traditional Massage of Thailand that works on the energy meridians of the body and takes the body into Yoga-like positions that cannot be accomplished unassisted. This therapy is still practiced by Buddhist monks in Thailand today. 7 pm, $40. 100-hour class starts 3/1/10.

with Joan Stocker. 15 CE hours. Physiology of the lymphatic and immune systems of the body to fully understand Lymphedema, a chronic condition that can impact on an individual's appearance and well-being. Techniques for clients with Lymphedema and creating therapy plans for reducing the size and/or pressure of a limb. Information to prevent Lymphedema where possible is offered.  Home-care and self-help information for those with the condition are given.  9 am.  $180 + $30 text.

with Kathy Perniciaro.  15 CE hours. Perform techniques to mobilize the body's connective tissue, relieving pain and increasing muscular function and flexibility by unwinding the fascia that makes up the bands of the Myofascial System.  Learn how fascia forms in the embryo and how it evolves with age to accurately assess a client's needs. 9am.  $300 + $19 text.

with Joan Stocker.  40 hours.  Structured practice for passing standard massage and bodywork examinations.  Tips for the "exam anxious" also given.  Tests given include questions about therapeutic massage and bodywork, assessment and application of treatment, anatomy, physiology, pathology, professional standards, ethics and sound business practices.  Five consecutive Sundays, 10 am.   $380

with Lynn Wass.  8 CE hours.  Explores the physiology of these injuries outlining the damage to each soft tissue group and techniques to treat them effectively.  Outlines many common injuries encountered and which techniques are most valuable for healing.  9 am.  $130 + $25 workbook.

with Lynn Wass.  8 CE hours.  Learn the anatomy and physiology of this problem and specific techniques to provide relief both pre- and post-surgically.  Presents practical information on how to prevent Carpal Tunnel Syndrome altogether and avoid surgery.  Offers recommendations on how to do repetitive tasks comfortably without injury.  9 am, $130 + $20 workbook.

with Dr. Richard Berkowitz. 8 CE hours.  Learn what Trigger Points are and their neuromuscular origin.  Study the direct and indirect causes of Trigger Points and how to recognize and treat them in clients.  A basic knowledge of muscular anatomy is needed for accurate evaluation and treatment.  9 am, $130.

with a Certified American Heart Association instructor.  8 hours. Two year certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for adults and children, including instruction in the use of a portable defibrillator.  Presents the four modules of scientifically based first aid:  1] General Principles  2] Medical emergencies such as seizures and chest pain  3] Injuries  4] Environmental emergencies such as bites, stings and exposure.  The public is welcome. 9 am.  $130.

PNF STRETCHING
with Dr. Gerald Agasar.  8 CE hours. Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitated Stretching is a non-invasive technique enabling therapists and health care practitioners to increase the client's mobility, range of motion and strength.  This work will also increase the movement of the body's connective tissue. 9 am. $130 + $22 text.

with Ann Waters.  8 CE hours.  Vocabulary and communication skills, guided imagery and relaxation techniques that therapists and health care providers can incorporate into any modality.  9 am.  $130.

with Amanda Catrombon.  20 CE hours.  Techniques are offered that have been successful in improving athletic performance and shortening recovery time after a sporting event.  The most popular sports, and the most common injuries occurring at these events, are discussed, as well as how to treat them during and after the event.  9 am.  $250 plus $18 text.

with Lynn Wass. 20 CE hours. Learn to read the signs and signals of discomfort.  Practice using palpation to locate abnormal tissue and how it moves.  Once the source of pain is located, master the techniques to give relief. with Ann Waters.  8 CE hours.  Learn the technique developed by a nurse and used in hospitals and health care facilities worldwide to promote health, reduce pain and establish balance and harmony in clients and patients.  9 am, $130 + $10 text.

ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY REVIEW
with Joan Stocker. 30 hours.  Covers the structure and function of each system of the body and their interaction with each other.  Emphasis is on the skeletal and muscular systems.  This class is excellent preparation for taking standardized exams.  9 am.   $280.  Also meeting 4/24 & 4/25.  The Anatomy Coloring Book, 3rd Edition by Kapit and Elson is used as the text.  If you don't have this book they are available at the school for $20.

with Tom Loveless.  8 CE hours.  Required in the pending PA licensure bill.  Educates health care providers about the physiologic indications, referral recommendations, pharmacology and the transmission risks of these diseases.  Outlines the pathology of Hepatitis B virus, Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome.  Supplies practical precautions to protect you from infection and perspectives to eliminate fear and alarm while working with those who are infected.  9 am.  $150.

with Joan Stocker.   15 CE hours.  Massage to the head, face, ears, neck and pectoral area, then acupressure to tighten and firm the facial muscles.  Warm compresses are used to hydrate the skin.  Several products are applied to the face and neck to smooth the skin, increase circulation and make any fine lines disappear.  Solutions are offered to resolve problems clients may have.  This relaxing, therapeutic, mini face lift can be used in any spa, wellness or therapeutic setting.  9 am.  $250.

REIKI SERIES- LEVEL I, II, and III
with Ann Waters. 42 CE hours. Learn the Usui system, an ancient art of energy healing. This will be a series of all three levels of Reiki to be held: Reiki Level I on 6/4 (7 pm) & 6/5 (9 am), Reiki Level II on 7/9 (7 pm) & 7/10 (9 am) and Reiki Level III on 8/13, (7pm), 8/14, (9am) & 8/15, (9am). If you would like to attend you must commit to all three classes held this summer. $1000 total cost (savings of $170 essentially getting Level I for free!). $500 deposit required for this series.
TMJ MASSAGE
with Kathy Perniciaro. 8 CE hours. Dysfunction of the TM joint is one of the leading causes of headaches. Learn the anatomy of the temporomandibular joint & the causes of muscular dysfunction. DIABETES AND THE MASSAGE CLIENT
with Dr. Jay Schnitzer. 6 CE hours. With the growing prevalence of diabetes, this course gives a thorough understanding of this disease including fluctuating body chemistry, peripheral neuropathy, and how the organs of the body are affected. Much of what Dr. Schnitzer will cover in this class is derived from his many lectures at medical and lay venues as a Diabetic Educator for The American Diabetes Association. $130

This class presents the various problems in different age groups, what is stressful to them and how to treat these young people effectively. COMPASSIONATE TOUCH
with Kathy Perniciaro. 30 CE hours. "Forget unconditional love! Therapists must work with unconditional respect." Learn to communicate and work respectfully with the ill, aging, and/or dying, emphasizing work on their physical condition regardless of their mental or emotional state.
